It does get better, but if you're not feeling it, then you should stop watching it now. There was good stuff in the themes at play between the gang (primarily Yusuke, but Kurama had a good couple moments at the end) and the villains. Not without flaw, by any stretch, but good and commendable. That said, Three Kings arc was only "required" because of the twist.
