Don't expect MGS-quality gameplay in any of them, and really only the story of the first one is coherent and meaningful enough to really compare imo.

Original one is the best in terms of how you get to play. Missions are generally "linear" but still give you a range of approaches so that you can stealth the whole thing if you want. There are also a couple of cities you get to explore for rewards (mostly items and experience points).

Invisible War (2) took a weird gameplay design turn and basically made all the weapons use the same pool of ammunition... It's kind of annoying. It's less stable than the first one, and the story doesn't have the same depth or sense of awe to it but it's still really interesting once you get past the first couple areas.

Mankind Divided (3) is a prequel/series soft reboot that starts to incorporate more modern game design elements to it like cover shooting/stealth. Stealth is really easy here since the enemies are all predictable as hell and the routes you're supposed to take are hella obvious.

Human Revolution (4) is a sequel to MD but still takes place before Deus Ex. The story is shallow as hell, honestly feels like an eleventh grader wrote a science fiction story after learning about Apartheid in one of their hour long social studies classes. Gameplay is similar to MD but there are better hub locations, the mechanics feel cleaner and things like stealth feel a little more freeform/less obvious.

The Fall is a mobile game that was ported to other systems. It shows. It was supposed to be part of an episodic series but they canned it after that first one so you have a dumb cliffhanger-ish ending that will never be resolved. Gameplay is slower because it's built around mobile devices, and the mechanics are a lot simpler. I loved some of the stupid stuff in this game though, like people smoking cgarettes backwards or peeing at urinals with their pants up.

1st Deus Ex is a masterpiece

1st Square published Deus Ex is really good gameplay, story is great but is overshadowes by the first

The sequels to both are not so great

Btw, Deus Ex 1 is almost novel levels of intrigue. It is about as good as a video game can get.

Pretty sure you put human revolution and mankind divided wrong way around.

Goddamnit you are right, I keep doing that lmfao. They felt like the same game to me, just HR had that stupid gold tone and a slightly more interesting story.

Well, there's generally more shooting (though you can stealth a fair amount of it), and the story is a little less philosophical and more rooted in reality (and it's really well researched), but you might like Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

the deus ex games shatter every MGS' game play save for 5, which is one of the tightest games ever made so it's a high bar to clear

Metal Gear has always been its own unique thing so wouldnt expect anywhere near that level of storytelling nor the quirky stuff you tend to find in those games. the only real comparison is a few open gameplay designs and some mechanics here and there.

that said DX1's story is quite good as is HR to a less degree. MD's side storys are great, but the game ended up being rushed and its main story suffers because of that. IW..we dont talk about.

the series in general excels at player choice in how it approaches level designs and choices you make based on your character build. even by todays standards the original still pisses on a lot of games out now in those regards and HR and MD do an admirable job in keeping up.

Man I don't know why everyone hates IW so much -_- It didn't hold up to the ridiculously high standard DX set but it was a good title on its own right, minus the dumb gun mechanics and some of the glitches.

Human Revolution is really good and has an interesting story. However when I played it I remember going for a stealth character and I got to either the first or second boss and kept getting annihilated. But as long as you dump some points into that typhoon ability early on then it should be cake.

Other then that I like the world of Deus Ex but I dont think anything comes close to the drivel that is the MGS series.

Yes. I recommend the original (an HD mod is available; link below) and Human Revolution.

There's Splinter Cell, but that has more realistic stealth-gameplay and story-lines.

I enjoyed it for what it was and might play it again some day for nostalgia's sake.

All the openly talking about The Illuminati, showing them sitting in their table is kinda wild

The devs of these games clearly believe in all that, they been doing it since day one Deux Ex
