I loved when i worked for a cable company and they'd ask that and i would tell them i would credit them for the day of service.

The worst is when the "inconvenience" is something outside of the companies control and you (on the customer service side) takes the full brunt of it. But yeah generally they're looking for a ful refund or a discount on the actual product/service when making this statement.

Refunds or discounts to the current service is the first thing we do. Afterwards, customers often inquire for further courtesies due to "time wasted".
