there's lots of people struggling these days and you might see more people on the streets as a result of it..and it could be YOU in their situation too if you aren't careful.

but what do you normally do when someone is begging you for money?

These options seem to be created by someone who doesn't see multiple homeless people every day.

If they are near a store I'll buy them something to eat and a bottle of water. I don't give them money.

After seeing one guy in ratty clothing begging at a supermarket only to later that day see the same guy climb into a brand new sports cars in a different parking lot I am leery of giving money to beggars.

I hear some beggars make $50,000-$100,000 a year from it.

I try to be generous to the homeless. I don't mind giving a few dollars if I have it. It's usually just change from drinking.

I've given homeless people and drunks a ride to their "spots" before too.

I try to give money or food.

Ignore them. Anyone who cares about their wellbeing would give to a proper charity org not just hand over meth money. That sounds harsh, but around here it's a fucking nightmare.

Seriously, never give money. Sorry to say but itll either be turned into illegal drugs or cigs/booze most of the time. If theyre legit, theyll accept food.

Food sometimes. I've had homeless people refuse bottled water, which I suppose is a good thing since it means they at least had water covered.

I was sitting in my car today in a parking lot and a guy came up and knocked on my window.

Waved him off. I don't pander to that shit. As someone who works for a non-profit, we have a lot of great programs and organizations locally to help those in need. Most panhandlers refuse to take advantage of them because they want to fuel their addiction and that is where the money goes.

One time a homeless person came up to my friends car when we were in the drive thru at Churchs Chicken. He asked for a piece of chicken, so we gave him a piece. Thats the only time a homeless person has asked me or someone Im with for actual food.

I give them money for booze or drugs because if I was in that situation I'd hope that people would give me money for booze or drugs.

In my hometown? I help out. When I'm traveling? In some places giving to every panhandler would empty your pockets in 20 minutes.

This guy is doing it right:

A) I rarely carry cash.

b) most often I am asked for money it isn't for food, but for bus fare.

c) I fundraise for the local food bank to help those in need.

Don't think I've ever encountered a homeless person directly asking me for money.

My view on the homeless is 50/50. Remember that scene in scary movie where ana faris gives a homeless guy and sandwich and he throws it back at her and says "ya dumb bitch! I wanted money!" That pretty much happened to me lol. Gives me the impression he onky wanted to get loaded that night. Intried it again and tried to give a banana to a homeless lady and she asked me if i had smokes on me lol. I do volunteer work with animals instead. They wont scam me.
