Bloomberg is reporting that they are telling developers to make games 4k ready, and the newer chip sets that already make up the system can do 4K upscale... so likely gonna do what they did with 3DS and do a New model.

Yeah, this was the talk of the Nintendo circles a few weeks/months back. I'm hoping this will give the new HW a decent frame rate.

Almost every flagship smartphone is capable of 4K gaming and are considerably smaller and more power efficient.

Well 4K is often used for "literally anything above 1080p." Plus right now I think the Switch only outputs 1080p max, where other consoles can output higher and have their own upscaling algorithms for 4K (instead of the TV handling it). This could just mean the new revision could output in 4K, not necessarily that it would be able to support many games at high resolutions.

This does make me wonder if there could be a new Tegra with tensor cores for DLSS in a potential Switch 2 (meaning next gen, not a revision). I think devs have to pay nVidia for them to train the algorithms though.

Digital Foundry suspected that Nintendo would be able to achieve 4K-ish type visuals with DLSS, since the Switch runs on NVIDIA hardware.

Would be relatively easy to do with 2020+ mobile GPUs.

It's Nintendo, so it'll be March or next next March.
Everyone else uses the holidays to push the new sexy thing. Nintendo uses the holidays to clear old stock.

DLSS is practically a freaking cheat code. It has NO BUSINESS working as well as it does. It's nuts.

it's been out almost 4 years now so this is expected. probably will be called new switch but i agree switch pro sounds way better. i have the smash bros one so i won't bother to upgrade. i barely even played the switch tbh.
