The lore of PubG is that they poked ass to get the game right, fucked up the console versions, (AND charged 40 bucks for a game that's actually superior on the phone where it's free...) and got their ass whooped by Fortnite. Then they tried to sue Fortnite but PLOT TWIST both companies/games are owned by Tencent. So they had to back down because they were kinda gonna sue themselves in a way... But not really. That's the lore.
