Brandon Bernard was executed by the federal government on Thursday at the Federal Correctional Center in Terre Haute, Indiana, according to a pool report.
Bernard, 40, was one of five gang members convicted in Texas of killing Stacie and Todd Bagley -- who were youth ministers -- in 1999. The gunman, Christopher Vialva, was executed in September, while the other co-defendants were given lesser sentences.
Bernard was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m. He was the youngest person in the United States to receive a death sentence in nearly 70 years for a crime committed when he was an adolescent.

He was only 18 when he committed the crime and was an accomplice, not the main instigator. He also had been a model prisoner and deeply regretted his actions. This is a cruel action that serves no purpose other than vengeance.

18 is an adult and I'm pretty sure most 18 years olds don't murder people. And he's the one who lit the car on fire, which evidence shows was the cause of death for at least one of them.

Find better people to defend for fuck's sake.

The death penalty is barbaric and has no place in modern society. It doesn't matter what the person did, no one deserves to have the government just kill you when you have been detained and are otherwise no threat to society.

I don't know anything about that story but if it's a case of someone stopping a threat as it's happening, that's a fair bit different than the state deciding to executed someone who has been behind bars for almost two decades.

What that murdering criminal Bernard did was absolutely terrible and I feel his execution seems fair, even if he was just a accomplice to the murders. The feds just murdered him to slake the families thirst for vengeance and to "make a example out of" another black man for sure. But for the victim's families to then politicise his execution by thanking Trump is absolutely disgusting. I get Indiana is red but Jesus man....

While it would have saved IN taxpayer dollars to execute him earlier you've got to admit this is the ultimate trolling. Locking Bernard up for decades, having him think he had a chance in hell of staying alive in there or even walking out as a free man again if he was on his best behavior and a model prisoner, only to flip the script, and then deny him his plea for more time and promptly execute him, right before the holidays no less. Some sick sadist fucks have to be in charge of that prison for sure. They should have at least gave him until after the New Year.

Uh I read an article that stated this definitely wasn't true. They were very much dead before the car was on fire and it's reasonable to think this particular person didn't start the fire.

Also, all five of the still living jurors say they would've ruled this case differently with now available evidence. All of the jurors pleaded for him not to be executed
