Planes flying directly over my head, specifically the lower-flying ones (we lived near an airport so they were abundant). I'd have to hide beneath something, typically the eaves of roofs, to break the line of sight as they passed overhead.

Every time Id hear a loud plane overhead
id kinda think that it was gonna drop nukes and wed all be vaporized instantly

by the way does anyone remember how much louder just regular planes were back in the day? Its like theyve become way quieter but almost nobody has noticed

Synthesizer music. It made me uncomfortable. Some of it still sorta does. I've never liked sloths either. Which is ironic because they are so easy to outrun.

The thought of a toilet clogging (or especially overflowing) was horrifying to me. Any time I took a huge shit I was genuinely worried it wasn't going to go down.

You know what? I do, never even thought about that, like before you didn't have to see an airplane, you heard its ass coming, but now it pretty much has to be low or you see it in the sky.

Along those same lines I remember being told you can't drink salt water or it will kill you. This was in reference to a survival at sea scenario in some book or movie. My dumb child brain took this to mean water with salt with it is poisonous, and drinking some will kill you.

Was afraid to go too close to a running lawn mower as a kid.

In retrospect, I think some of my "fears" may have actually been my autistic baby brain reacting poorly to certain stimuli. I was terrified of car wash tunnels as a kid, and putting my face underwater (even just under shower spray, no joke) would make me scream; I never really learned how to swim effectively because I never fully got over that. I think one of my sisters figured out that I was afraid of getting anything in my eyes, so I'd stuff a washcloth in front of my eyes whenever I had to wash my hair/face to stop the distress.

I was scared of heights and clowns (typical), but I loved movies like the Terminator and Aliens when I was teeny (fuck knows why my parents let me watch those movies... even let me watch Aeon Flux, wtf were they thinking?) and they didn't scare me; I told my parents I wanted to be a ternimator when I grew up. Darkness didn't really scare me, but I had hideous nightmares even as a very small child about people being murdered/our house being attacked.
