At least, the first two.

The first one was a fucking masterpiece man. I went in expecting a pure gorefest and came out with a pretty gripping story and some excellent cinematography

The second one though...what the fuck was that? Are the rest of them as bad?

It's funny, I've been watching that stuff recently as well.

I've only seen bits of each, though. I think the third seems like the best, although I liked the others as well. How have you been watching them, pinky?

Yeah I hated two as well, so much retread and felt like a plot that they gave 50 minutes of padding to.

Every sequel is way, way worse.

They really worked hard to undo all the mystery of the cenobites in the 2nd movie.

I came out of the first one wondering what these eldritch horrors actually were, and by the end of the second felt like the curtain had been pulled back on the magic show to reveal some kind of bullshit mirror trick

The second one is generally considered on par with part one. Part 3 isn't bad, but 4 and beyond are very mixed. Like a lot of horror franchises from that era some one thought taking it to space would be an awesome idea.
