If you're out of the loop, Marvin Gaye's surviving family members decided that they could copyright not just a song, or a lick, or a melody...but a feel. Quite literally this is what it came down to. The songs differ in most aspects other than a general groove which was just how a lot of songs sounded back in Marvin Gaye's day.

And the jury, full of people who could not clap on the 2 and 4 allowed this decision and ruled in their favour.

The implications of this are fucking nuts to be honest. Like, entire genres could be called into question because they now have a precedent to sue each other for big bucks.
