Making a dinner for my girlfriend and my family (that we live with) this weekend and I'm trying to impress lol I've only steamed maybe 4 lbs at most at a time. I need help CE!

Or should I boil them? I've only steamed crab before and it was pretty easy and came out good.

Ate some crab last weekend. Boiling it is easy way. Usually about 20 mins

My sister got baguette bread with melted Bree and garlic. spread that on the bread with the crab on top

Okay thanks for the advice. Quick question tho, my steamer definitely is not the size to accommodate 10 lbs at once. Would I be okay to let the first batch sit while I cook the second or should I use a larger pot and a colander?

Hm, I think it'd be fine but I'd try to take from the first batch and give your 'guests' ones from the second, hotter batch. I'd still use a steamer. Someone else may have a lifehack to keep the first round warm tho

Do you just have crab meat or what? Cuz like if its like whole crabs do stuffed crabs. Looks fancier is easier, basiclly just crabcakes jamed in the shells and done im the oven. Have lemon wedges to squeeze over em

Damn I didnt even think to maybe serve it in batches. Shit man good idea.

Also maybe it's just me but I just like the taste of steamed crab more than boiled. I'm more equipped to boil a large batch at once but eh.

I havent bought the crab yet. I've cooked live before but now that I'm thinking about it I'm probably just gonna buy the legs from the market because I'm cooking for 5 and dont want to deal with all that. I'm thinking 2 lbs each. It's my gf's bday though and I know she prefers to just eat them boiled or steamed.

Boil em, use old bay, butter to dip, lemon to squeeze, grilled corn on the cob, get a box of redlobster biscut mix and make those too if you need another item Basic good.

If you wanna make it fancy arragne all that stuff in a basket with the legs sticking out like spider legs and have some shrimp kabbobs sticking out of it and a little dish of cocktail sauce in the center of it all.
