If you don't keep the water bed filled to the brim then it will sleep like shit. Proper maintenance and it sleeps great. Also it's only too hot if the thermostat is cranked up on it. Moved when I was 7 but couldn't use it because it was too heavy for the older floors so it was put in storage. Moved again when I was 9 and the owner left the bladder waterbed bunkbed/clothes drawers unit in the room so I used that for a couple years until popping both, removing the unit, and replacing it with my old mattress waterbed. Plus my dad & stepmom had a bladder one in their room I would occasionally sleep in when younger, and my girlfriend in university had a bladder one in her parent's basement that I would sleep on when I stayed there. So it appears like I generally had access to a waterbed for about 15 years, or just under half my life, and I haven't even seen one in the 15 years since.
