UnfairRepresent 12/05/20 6:21:42 AM #1:	Your young son is crying their eyes out one day. You ask thwm what's wrong and they say "That m-m-man said, sob Santa wasn't coming t-t-this year." Then you look up and see a bearded adult man in a tight fitting Dark Souls T-shirt and jean shorts who curtly says: "Wrong! I said he's not coming any year. He's not real. He doesn't exist. Your mom and dad are buying all the presents, probably your dad. And they're not made by elves either they're made by Chinese kids younger than you getting paid 30 cents an hour. Don't be mad at me for telling the truth. I'm right." How do you react? And my wife would never lie to our children about that stuff either. There were so many wonders that they exposed me to that really made me love this planet, and they did it while being honest with me. That didn't mean they told me every awful little thing about the world at a young age, of course. The guy sounds like a dick though. Leave it to the parents to raise their kid the way they want. It's not like they were raising the kid to believe harmful stereotypes about real people, places, or things. Chill out. --- Holy crap! VanananaHeyHey 12/05/20 7:33:40 AM #8:	Whether you believe in Santa or not, you definitely get coal if you respond to a scenario topic with "I wouldn't even BE in the scenario~!" --- I'd tell off the guy and get the kid home. Probably level with them in an hour or two when they've calmed down; do some sort of "Santa is a metaphor in our hearts and a fun game of make-believe" heart to heart with them. Telling kids Santa exists is a weird tradition, but as far as potential 'traumas' a kid can go through, I don't think that cultural fib does any harm. Pet Peeve: Christmas movies about people who don't believe in Santa when Santa clearly exists in-world. I am willing to suspend so much disbelief (and three times more at Christmastime!) but that premise virtually always contradicts itself on its own terms. --- Please, call me Vanai.
