Portable works, but yeah best device overall A PC Seriously, I had an MPC Live and a OP-1 and while it was GREAT to have actual hardware it was redundant as a person who plays guitar + whatever else For 200 you can get a MIDI controller with keys + pads + rotary encoders that work with Ableton (the sampling/warp functions on there really have everything else beat imo) the new standalone Maschine does look pretty nice though, ngl I'm just a regular music guy though.. Classic Rock/60's bought a tascam Dp-32 just to get away from the computer.. just doesn't make sense anymore to NOT use a computer analog equipment still has a particular sound though, but to morph things already digital and do studio production tricks.. it all winds up on a computer anyways so >_> you have like 2483240832049832 different synths you can go ahead and download, even Omnisphere can be had for free --- ... Was literally posting my laptop on ebay rn but you are right tbh What're you hoping to do? I mean it's NICE to have hardware (in caps twice, cause I did geek out with it) but I couldn't justify it.. I play guitar and try to learn as much music as I can so I was like 'well if I really want a machine that can sample, sequence, cut-up things, give me drum rhythms I guess I can lay down cash fer this' the most I did with something like an MPC live was record from vinyl through a mic (the MPC Live has jacks for microphones so you can do vocals on it should you wanted to lay something down for a song) but I found myself saying 'hmmmmm, well.. I do already have my audio interface that already has XLR jacks!' then I wanted to sample and sequence and I was like 'man I'm on youtube ON MY COMPUTER trying to learn how to do this' it's not even the fact that a computer can actually do so much more it's the program ABLETON man, this thing is a wonderbox as a DAW - you can literally do loops of samples and of virtual instruments so on the fly that it just made everything sort of pale in comparison get a launchpad pro used if you can tbh and play with Ableton, then you'll porbably have a better idea of whether or not hardware is something you really want before you shell out more >_> Ableton Push 2 is a hardware controller that works with the ^DAW, but it's sort of pricey.. it's not portable or standalone though.. the MPC Live is tho >_> --- ...
