May have been initially diagnosed with AIDS. That, or the ARV medicine couldnt take effect and hes on the verge of death.

(For those confused, AIDS is basically the advanced form of HIV. If you get diagnosed with AIDS and start a regimen of medicine that works youll eventually essentially revert back to having HIV rather than AIDS.

Thats what happened for me.)

It is a time to reflect on past HIV scares and to be thankful for advancements in science and medicine, like PEP and PREP. And to pray and hope for an eventual cure that makes even PEP and PREP unnecessary, as wonderful and effective as they are.

It's also a good opportunity to educate others on the state of HIV medication today, and how they basically reduce your viral load to the point where you cannot pass on HIV to someone else. The stigma around HIV is no longer warranted.

Somehow I doubt that. It's probably the usual conflation of HIV with full blown AIDS.
