Mauro Garza was running for Congress in Texas (congressional district 20). On July 14th, 2020, I went to vote in the primaries and parked near one of his campaign's tents. I went inside to vote and left. The people working for his campaign said nothing to me about anything. I got in my car and drove home. Two weeks later, I looked at the video logs from my car and saw the incident happen. There were visible scratches on the ceramic coating and a couple spots where the tent went through the ceramic coating and damaged the paint.

Video of the incident:

I contacted Mauro Garza's campaign and he answered the phone. I sent him that video and he apologized and said he would get it taken care of. He was going to have one of the volunteers working at that location write me a check. I thought this was kinda weird. I was going to take the money any way because they swept it under the rug, too. Then he wanted me to sign some document absolving them of any future responsibility for this incident. They're literally the only responsible party, so I refused to do that and just filed a claim with my insurance company. It cost almost $1600 to repair. Almost $1000 to repaint the door panel, and then another $600 to put the ceramic coating back on that door. Fortunately, my deductible is only $250.

State Farm then went after Mauro Garza to get my deductible back, but he isn't owning up to it. State Farm already has the video and they sent the case to collections. I just got off the phone with the collections company. Garza told them that he knows nothing about this incident. So I just sent the collections company a screenshot of our text message conversation where he owned up to it and that video.

We'll see what happens. What an adventure.

Also, Mauro Garza lost by about 30 points, which is great.
