pretty sure the 6800 xt beats the 3080 for everything but special nvidia features. card has more raw power then the 3080 and isn't gimped by the missing vram.

now the 6800 vs the 3070, that's a much closer match. 3070 is better if you plan on upgrading in two years when it starts really getting bottlenecked by its missing vram.

Not sure if that's a fair assessment or not, it's one of those things where it's up to developers to implement it or not. Kind of like Physx.

couple point to make about ray-tracing.

• this is amd's first card that's really capable of raytracing. you should expect some growing pains and for the drivers to mature.
• the majority of games with ray tracing out now worked with nvidia and are tweaked to run better on their cards.
• amd doesn't have a dlss competitor yet, which is the primary reason nvidia can say they've got playable ray tracing on higher resolutions.
• amd controls the console market, you'll likely see support for nvidia features like dlss and for 'rtx tuning' to drop off as consoles start rolling out the ray tracing features that work on amd hardware.

Rumor has it that a 3080Ti with 20 GB is coming early next year to counter the RX 6900XT for about the same price.

So, if you bought a 3080/3090, you just wasted your money.
