Okay. just finished the first movie. It was alright. There wasn't anything too memorable about it though. The story was very basic but it didn't need to be anything complicated. Some things were left unresolved but it wasn't anything super big or important. The characters don't really develop or anything. It just kinda exists to show exhilarating car races and pretty women and I don't think it does either of those things too well. The car races had some weird awkwardness that I can't really describe and the women were only decent. Also, who was still using floppy disks in 2001? CD's were literally that cheap by that time that they were on magazine covers. Hell I think DVD was coming in pretty cheap by that time.

5/10 It wasn't fantastic by any stretch of the imagination but it wasn't that bad either.

I hope the second movie is better.

Finished 2 Fast 2 Furious. Leagues better than the first. There are so many good moments from start to finish. The story is still pretty basic but again, it doesn't need to be complex. It's show off fast cars and pretty women and do some cool shit which they nailed all of it so much better. The villain is quite threatening. There's some good chuckles here and there. The only place it really lacks is some of the scenes could use some music to really get you pumped up in some of the races. It doesn't detract from the experience though.

9/10 It was a real blast to watch.

Tokyo Drift is up next. Pretty much the only one of these movies I've actually seen. There might be a lot of bias from both nostalgia and being weeb trash. That's for tomorrow night though.

Finished Tokyo Drift. It's a little weaker than the second movie. It certainly has slightly deeper characters and relationships between characters but the racing stuff suffers a bit for it. The stunts aren't as wild or exhilarating but I cared for the character a lot more. Maybe that's nostalgia talking. It fixed the music issue I had with the second movie and the soundtrack in general is really good.

8/10 I blame this movie for making me a weeb. That and morning cartoons.

Next is Fast and Furious. Who thought it was a good idea to name it that though? Confusion ahoy~!

I always think of the American Dad "real cuts" of the films when I see anything to do with them XD

Honestly, once it stopped being 00's edgy street racing and became a Mission: Impossible knock-off, it got watchable.

I liked the second one more than the first but those are the only ones I've seen, and haven't re-watched them since they came out.

Finished Fast and Furious. I think it takes a step back again. This time, the series goes back to it's roots and tries to tell the undercover cop story again in the similar fashion to the first movie and tries to weave a revenge plot among it all. None of the characters have that much charm, the villain feels pretty harmless, the racing scenes aren't all the great, the cars themselves aren't as show-y, and where are all the sexy women? I do like how each movie does make reference to previous movies though which is always a nice touch.

6/10 They didn't do as much cool shit as I have come to expect.

Next is Fast Five.

Finished Fast Five. It's Ocean's Eleven with the Fast and Furious crew you've come to know and love and oddly something of a war action sprinkled in. The focus of these movies has moved away from the tuner scene and street racing but that alright. It's a much better entry than the previous one. It did feel like it dragged in some places and some of it was a bit awkward at times.

8/10 I'd place it higher than Tokyo Drift.

Next is Furious 6. They really couldn't stick with a naming convention for this series, could they? I'm going to take a small break though and watch it either later tonight or tomorrow.

Finished Furious 6. Micheal Bay would be proud of this one. There's some events in this one, it almost feels like it takes a page out of anime at some points. The parallels between each team (which is even pointed out in the movie), the philosophy of the characters, even the way one of the characters return. This isn't particularly a bad thing, just something to note. Still, a lot of cool stunts but I think it lacks some of that X factor of the previous movie.

8/10 I'd put Tokyo Drift above this one but I have bias for TD mostly from nostalgia.

Next is Furious 7.

I did a full complete run of the entire collection about a year ago. Having only seen like the first and second. So, with that being said, with there being 8 god damn films, I only really love the first one. Underground street racing before all the over the top shit started happening and the series being self aware which I dont really mind. And I think the peak of these movies was pretty much Furious 7. That had a really good send off for the late Paul Walker... hits you right in the feels. But by the time you get to the 8th film... its like my brain was leaking out of my ear. Zombie cars... I dont need to say more : /

Overall, I think these movies have now became dank status with the "I do it for family" theme. You can only beat a dead horse before it overstays its welcome and again... I think it started to feel that fatigued by the 8th film.

Finished Furious 7. This somehow turns the dial up from 11 to 12 in terms of action. More explosions, more over-the-top stunts and more emotions than the series has ever seen. The villain had one of the most badass introductions although they were slightly underwhelming for the sheer fact he didn't manage to kill off anyone in the main crew. Also some weird timeline stuff. Since this occurs just after when Tokyo Drift happens, the jump from flip phones in Tokyo Drift to smart phones in this movie is kinda weird. Not really something that detracts from the experience. Just something I noticed.

8/10 I'll put it in between Tokyo Drift and Fast 5. A well done tribute to Paul Walker as well.

Finally at Fate of the Furious. Very curious how it turned out without Paul.

Finished Fate of the Furious. It's your basic blackmail story. There's less over-the-top action for the most part. Some cool ideas that aren't executed as well as they could have been. Jason Statham really steals the show here. Any part with him is an absolute joy to watch in an otherwise only decent entry.

7/10 Although I'd put this above 6 so I'll pull Furious 6 to a 7/10 as well.

So that wraps up the main series. I might watch Hobbs and Shaw in a few days and if I do, I'll rate it.

Final order from my most liked to least liked.

2 Fast 2 Furious
Fast 5
Furious 7
Tokyo Drift
Fate of the Furious
Furious 6
Fast and Furious
The Fast and the Furious

I don't get the hate for Tokyo Drift. It's certainly not as good as some entries but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

This is how I feel about the anime, Fairy Tail. The "Power of friendship!" thing get old after several seasons of everyone exclaiming it.

The second half is a lot more entertaining than the first half.
