Looks like Shang Tsung wasn't the only one from the movie to make it to MK11. They even went out of their way to get the actual actors to voice the characters. MK11 gameplay maybe just okay, but goddamn you gotta give it to them when it comes to Easter Eggs and Nostalgia pandering.

This is what bothers me. In comparison to other fighters, Mortal Kombat animation just feels off. Punches and kicks don't have that oomf to them that makes it look like it hurts. It's still a great looking game, but man the animation doesn't sit right with me at all.

It is a relic from the old games: the characters move similar as they do in MK1. It is the one nostalgic bit they need to drop

What was cool about Kano's actor was that he was the one who defined his character. When the movie was made, Kano was just some dude that can shoot a laser beam from his eyes.

i mean they could have still pulled that off, not for the voicing (just pick a similar sounding VA)
but looks wise. wwe games did that quite often with older dead wrestlers

I rented it and it plays like shit, the story is even shittier than MKX, the character design is even shittier than MKX, most of the guest fighters are boring as shit, and yet its the best selling game in the series by a longshot. This pack and Mileena almost made me want to check it out again but then I looked at it and remembered that it was shit. Why is it so big? I dont get it.

I'll give it to you on the story and gameplay, but everything else I believe MK11 does so much better than MKX. And if you want a "fighting game" that really sucks, I would look to anime arena fighter shits like Jump Force and Kill la Kill if.

Idk man it just seems like you have bad tastes. MKX story was boring ol Kombat Kids. MK11 story has amazing callbacks to the PS2 era, Liu Kang being the hero again, double fun time with two Kanos, the young Shaolin monks kicking ass together, etc etc.

Compare Mortal Kombat battle animation to something like Tekken to get what I mean. Tekken 7 animation just looks and feels way more smooth and slick in comparison to MK11's battle animation.

Are you seriously saying MK9 had a good story? Especially with that crap ending where Sindel massacreing the majority of the MK cast? I'll give it to you that MK9 had decent gameplay (even though the balance in that game was complete bonkers) and the battle animation being even worst than MKX and MK11. I'll definately say that MKX was the most fun I played, but what I'm most confused is how you can't see why people like MK11, when it's a game that NRS put a lot of love and dedication into.

That's a symptom of crunch culture, which I believe now a lot of American Studios are doing their best to fight against (can't say the same for Japanese devs though, where crunch is literally part of their societal culture), but you would also be naive if the devs didn't have crunch involved with MK9 and MKX.
