There's a reason people don't have it during the rest of the year. the taste isn't worth all the effort it takes to prepare and cook, its super easy to dry out, and its really "time sensitive". in my experience leftovers don't really taste that great, which is why i never understood the "OH YEA NEXT DAY SANDWICHES" thing...by the next day i'm not really wanting Turkey anymore. Just get some Chicken.

I know plenty of people that eat turkey year round, but they have large families and for bigger gatherings it either buy a turkey or 5 or 6 chickens. The size of the bird and amount of food is the main reason why most people only have it for the holidays, not due to "how hard" it is to cook.

Yeah all the effort to cook an entire turkey isn't even worth it. I will buy ground turkey thru the year or maybe some turkey lunchmeat (cold cuts). Maybe cut up turkey breasts...other than that, yeah chicken is pretty much superior in every single way and beef is far superior in ground form.
It's a very overrated main course. Thanksgiving is tradition, but for the people that also go ahead and buy another turkey for Christmas...what the hell are you thinking? Literally anything else is far superior. ... Copied to Clipboard!

This year I'm doing a 10 hour brine followed by a 16 hour pecan wood smoke on our turkey, in an ongoing effort to make the bird better than mediocre. I agree for the most part, chicken is better, easier, and less expensive. I got the turkey for free this year or I'd be doing ham.
