He specified your religion, though. Everyone has their own individual religion. One person who calls themself Christian might be a hateful bigot whereas another might be a peaceful hippie filled with love for all.

Christianity doesn't teach you to hate anyone

Religious people (even considering them as a whole and not as members of different religions and denominations) are not a monolith. A topic like this is akin to the Trump ads that call Democrats socialists.

Furthermore the only people who will take this topic seriously are those who already hate religion. TC had no intention of having any real discussion and is just hating on religion. This hasn't been new or exciting since 2012.

No religion does this. I mean if you're being dense then you can look at some religious text and say "look at this verse right here, it says you can't do X!" But there's really no benefit in having a discussion then because like I said, you're being dense.

Notice how many religious people in America support gay marriage or at the very least aren't against it. Christians for example who support gay marriage are not bad Christians. In reality people's values are shaped by a lot of things, the most influential of which is probably the people they associate with and the society they live in. Religion is only a part of that equation. Religion is really just a relationship between you and God (or the universe, or whatever). A religious person who lives in and interacts with society is not a representative of that religion. They represent themselves, and what people display to society is a lot more than the religion they follow.

Yes we all know not every person of a religion does everything single thing their holy book says to a T (considering most of them haven't even read their respective holy books) however the fact of the matter is those books of which their belief is based do condone these sort of things whether the followers do it or not and that makes the religion trash.

So to be more concrete and to respond to this post in particular.

Should people feel threatened by Islam for drawing a cartoon of Muhammad? Or should they feel threatened by people who follow in an ultraconservative interpretation of Islam that, among other things, prescribes death for drawing and/or insulting Muhammad?

I mean we can agree that people shouldn't feel threatened by either because the group described above should stop forcing their religious beliefs on others. But I hope we can also agree that their religious beliefs are not as simple as TC is trying to make them out to be. Islam (as well as all other religions) has branched out a lot over the years and implying that all Muslims are the same really is like saying Democrats and socialists are the same thing. I mean you can say that, and there is a hint of truth there because both Democrats and socialists are on the side side of the political spectrum, even though the claim is obviously untrue. But guess what, people who just hate "the left" in general and don't really want to think about it too much totally buy into it.

But there are definitely people who have taken that incident and said "lolol ReLiGioN of PeAcE" and that all Muslims are extremists or terrorists. And I'm sure you wouldn't stand for that. TC is doing the same thing but with religion in general, and that is what I'm arguing about. I'm not defending people doing bad things, I'm calling out his bulls***.
