The game has everything going for it to be better than the first. The combat is mostly the same but better and more stylish. Way less heavy characters than the first which is a plus. But there was a huge lack of boss fights. There was Rhino twice, 'Vulture', Prowler, and Tinkerer. That's it.

The game suffers from all of the same issues the first did and more. Bunch of bugs like getting stuck in an object. The AI is a lot dumber in this game. Stealth encounters are a slog because the AI is constantly walking over itself and not creating natural opportunities. If you use invisibility it makes the stealth encounters trivial and not fun. Camera for some reason flips around in every combat encounter to focus on Miles' face instead of facing away at the enemies which makes for a better cinematic experience but a really shitty gameplay experience not being able to see the next enemy in front of you. Some enemy types are introduced in the last act for one encounter and never reused again. A bunch of forced walking sequences. Anything you do interrupts dialogue from the podcasts or even story related phone calls so you're better off staying put when those happen which is one of the more annoying things in open world games to me.

I will say though that I liked the smaller, but still pretty damn big, story compared to the first. Tho they kinda do have the same story beats. I like Miles' character more than Peter in the first. I also liked Ganke, Phin, Gloria, and Prowler a lot. Krieger had some great moments too. Nothing in this game hit as hard as the end of the first tho imo. Still an 8/10 glad I played it.

Hope Spiderman 2 improves on a lot and hope Miles continues to have his own side games. I'm thinking two will be like Ultimate Spiderman and have you play as both Spiderman and Venom.

It was a good game, I think I didn't put enough time between finishing the first game last year and starting this game. I probably would have liked it even more.
