Well a lot of other countries did look to us as the world leader. Until trump fucked everything up. Even though everyone knew we were fallible we were still a good country. But slowly we are declining.

After all they're doing right now with the Uyghurs, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Spratly Islands, speech restrictions, etc. No country really says shit about it, because they want to keep sucking that Chinese money dick.

China is not really anywhere close to surpassing the US when talking conventional military might.

I don't think they have nearly the force projection capabilities that the US military does. In the event of conflict between the US and China, most battles/destruction would take place on Chinese soil. Any incursions into South Korea/Japan would probably be quickly repelled. Maybe in 50 years it will be different but that's pretty much how it stands now.

American airpower is pretty devastating and I don't think any nations not allied with the US are really able to counter it effectively at all.

China's "big advantages" are numbers and a disregard for life of its own people (and others) which while could certainly cause devastation wouldn't see them able to beat America without support.

They don't. The US Navy is the single most powerful naval force in the world and it gives us unparalleled force projection. Our carriers alone have a stronger aerial force than many countries' entire air forces. Each. And we have 11 of those.

Think I'm wrong. Brief googling, I can see France had the Charles De Gaulle and UK has the Queen Elizabeth.

When I talk aircraft carriers, I mean something akin to the CVNs the US has.

The US has been rapidly losing ground over the last 20 years, but US President is still the most powerful position in the world, undisputed in my mind. Granted, that power is temporary for each individual person who holds the office, and some presidents fail to effectively wield their power.

Fair enough, I didn't do anything more than look at Wikipedia's list. Didn't check what they included >.> A quick look says they "don't include submarine aircraft carriers, seaplane tenders, escort carriers, merchant aircraft carriers" in their numbers.
