I just remembered that based on YouTube videos I've seen about where to pet cats (don't own any myself but I do play with some cats that wander around my neighborhood) and other information I've hunted, cats don't typically like belly rubs because they feel vulnerable there. Whenever they roll on their backs and expose their belly that means they are trusting of whoever's nearby. If a cat is accepting of a belly rub it typically has a rapport with the person doing the rubbing.

so last vet visit was scary.

Essentially, he's been getting a lot more aggressive the last few weeks. He'll slash and bite seemingly at random without provocation, despite often acting friendly and like he wants pet. When we took him to the vet, he immediately tried to bite her.

The vet recommended we immediately get him neutered. Originally we were planning on getting it done at SPCA, but because this has become so urgent, we're scheduled to get him neutered next week at the vet (which will charge like 3x the price SPCA would've) and the vet says she's not even sure it'll improve his attitude.

So in addition to having to wait even longer to meet the other cats, now we're starting to worry if he can at all, because we can't risk him hurting the other cats (I have a ton of scratches all over both hands already as is, all from the last like 2 weeks)
