Board 8 > Are smart universal remotes tied to TV brands?

When I look them up in Amazon, most smart universal remotes say "compatible with Samsung brand", "compatible with LG brand" and so on.

Would they still work with any othee brand, even if the description specifically mentions some?

I ask because I just bought a non-big name brand (Quasar) dirt-cheap TV, and am on the market for a good remote.

yeah,those are the equivalent of when your SD card advertises it's "compatible with iphone", they just know majority of people are tech dummies and will be scared to buy without that
