I'll start with mine:

It was the day before a holiday and I was spending the night at my grandparents (I was 11/12 at the time, I think). They had given me a copy of Pokemon Emerald that evening as a present, so I was sitting on their dining table starting the game for the first time

What are yours?

I played soccer when I was a kid, but never cared much for it so I was put on goalie. Most action I ever had was blocking a game winning goal with my face (on accident, had no idea it was even coming). I was a bit dazed, but I remember my coach and team running up to me like I was a hero lol. Mom took us to Fudruckers that day, it was the bomb.

is this a bittersweet memory?

my dad was a drunk abusive asshole, but on his good days he was a kid at heart. one of the best times i remember spending with him was at a go-kart park doing our best to lap the competition. near the end of the day we'd scoped out the best track with the fastest cars, and we'd figured out which cars were the best on that track, so we decided to go out with a blast. we hoped in our cars and proceeded to pit as many other drivers on the track that we could; at the end of the race they kicked us out.

about a year and a half later he died from liver failure. its one of the few good memories i have of the man.

Wow that's rough TC but I'm glad yiu shared the memory :)

When I was...9 or 10? My parents took me and my five year old sister to a renaissance faire - in hindsight it was because they knew I was really into the king Arthur mythos/knights but as we had just moved back to the US, money was tight and we didn't buy any food/souvenirs. I remember being slightly irked about not getting a turkey leg but thinking back it was one of the most awesome things I'd seen

I adopted a mexican street dog and I thought he was blind cause he would run into walls really hard

Turns out his eyebrows were just really long, I trimmed em and he started doing laps around the yard <3

Night swimming in my pool with my friend on the first night of summer vacation in 1996. Afterwards, we went inside and played UN Squadron on SNES. We talked about how this was going to be the greatest summer vacation ever and it probably was. He passed a few years ago, but this memory always sticks out for some reason. It was a good night.

Sitting outside in this place outside we called the cave and playing guitar from the time we got out of school until it was 10 at night. Wed sit around for hours just learning and practicing, drinking and smoking whatever

Wed walk everywhere with our music - go down the beach some or have the gang of us hanging over at some persons house from school

It was just fun to be in that sort of life learning process as a kid who busted the doors to his freedom
