Dude could literally just hire a bodyguard to be around him for security purposes, or give his friends money to buy guns for themselves if he wants to still go to the range. This is such an easy thing for a wealthy person to avoid getting in trouble for.

The dude is more likely to kill himself drinking lean than anybody shooting him.

Plus, if some dude is premeditated to walk up and shoot you, having a gun on you is not going to save you from the first couple of shots. Maybe some bodyguards might help to stop him from getting close in some situations.

a few day later, some people got together and did a memorial for him and even that was shot at by rival gangs.
