I'm basically writing a story, and I want to convey that a character is laughing in a sort of sneaky, wicked way without it being full-blown maniacal laughter. Does "laughs deviously" get the point across?

it could stand to be a bit more descriptive than that
like maybe "he laughed in a way that betrayed a hidden motive" or something idk ... Copied to Clipboard!

ah, in that case i think people can work with 'laughs deviously' Thanks. :) At first I had it as "(laughs maniacally)", but then I realized that that probably suggests the character is cackling like a supervillain.
