I'm going through some old WCW shows on the WWE Network. Randy Savage really got the short end of the stick in WCW.

1st WCW title reign:

• loses to Lex Luger on a disqualification
• loses to the Giant on a disqualification
• wins against Ric Flair on a disqualification
• pins Tenzan in a non-title match
• loses title to Ric Flair

2nd WCW title reign:

• loses by pin fall in a tag match against Ric Flair and the Giant
• loses to the Giant on a disqualification
• wins against Chris Benoit on a disqualification
• loses title to Ric Flair in a cage match

3rd WCW title reign:

• loses title to Hulk Hogan the night after winning the belt

4th WCW title reign:

• loses title to Hulk Hogan the night after winning the belt

Four title reigns in WCW and he did not have one successful title defense by way of pin fall. Benoit was the last opponent he was able to retain the title against. Incidentally, Woman (Nancy Benoit) was Savage's valet going into the match. When it was over, she joined Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen.

Oh, and there's a really scary moment at the end of the match where Benoit clearly hits his head on the concrete after diving out of the ring. Given that concussions led to brain damage, and that it may or may no have been a factor in the taking of Nancy and Daniel Benoit's lives, it's really scary to a stunt like that which involves falling head first onto unprotected concrete. For what it's worth, I'm glad they don't do spots like that anymore.

Also, happy birthday today to Randy Savage. (RIP)

Randy was my favorite wrestler of all time. Stopped watching wrestling when he was out.

WCW had horrible booking

and a raging hard on for matches ending in disqualification.

By the time they got to 1998, I think every Nitro that didn't end in a title change ended in a disqualification.

Macho had a creative control clause in his contract, which he hardly used, yet Hogan had the same thing in his contract, which he abused.
