How much busier is it during the Black Friday to New Years time span? Does it go back to normal at the start of the year?

Pre covid.

I know I am looking at about 2 months of hell though.

I worked high end retail for a few years. Its insanely busier. The closest it comes to that is back to school time and that isn't even close to the shit show the holiday season brings.

What pisses me off is you really don't make any more money for it...except maybe a Christmas bonus...but I would just assume a modest bonus, but more in each paycheck.

Where I am at, there is plenty of Overtime, and god knows how much this year. But you should have to grind out the holiday season like that to make real money.

~I guess I like jobs where the amount of work you do has something to do with your overall compensation.

I worked low end. I'd agree with all of that as well.

My first job was low-end retail and it waspretty much the same. Black Friday to New Years is hell.

I worked at Target for a year and yeah it's crazy busy. I thought that was most fun time of the year though... unless you have to close because then you have to clean up the store which has been turned into a shithole over the day. Sometimes you'd have to stay until 1AM when the store closed at 10pm.

Black Friday is a total shitshow. I don't know what everyone's gonna do different, but I remember when I was working retail.

Days were split between the job and endlessly looking for a career job based on my degree. With that came trying to flex/shift hours for interviews, always uncertain if a proper risk was taken in possibly losing that retail job. No offense to anyone who works in retail, but for the people who are in the same boat I was, now having to juggle a COVID shitshow - and without an ideal healthcare plan - I feel really sorry for them.

Black Friday and Christmas week will be the busiest time of the year. But with covid.... I think itll just be half as busy since I'll assume most stores wont let too many people in at once.
