I've only seen episodes 1 and 4 so far, because the first episode was enough of a shit insult to the 90s version to make me not want to watch again, but I saw enough spoiler tags on a game show forum I visit regularly to know something mildly interesting would happen on the show last week (one of the teams won by only 18) and it was still bad, but not ripping-my-hair-out bad.

In particular, Leslie needs to tone it down a bit (never gonna happen, I know), learn how to properly narrate the Big Sweep, and they need to take a minute to explain the various bonuses and never use the ones that involve waiting around for a clumsy or lazy store employee again. I mean there's plenty of other things I could rag on but those are the biggest ones.

Yeah it's trash. Leslie Jones is already annoying then they bring out Neal to get yelled at for no reason and the cashier comic guy to make a terrible joke.

And then the sweep without explaining these bonuses or special coffee or things before it starts.

And the final sweep they fucking tell you the item type in the clue to make it too easy...

The additional characters are such a drag on the show, I really want to know why the hell they're even there. You have three cashiers, why is the old guy the only one that ever gets any face time? I know from clips I've seen of the British version that the whole employee thing is from there, and I didn't like it there either.

And then the sweep without explaining these bonuses or special coffee or things before it starts.

Why do the shopping lists have to have some kind of theme to them now? What the hell do golden cans have to do with shopping? Why is the florist literally just making everybody wait until he feels like giving them the roses just for the sake of the "bonus" being $300 for wasting time you could've spent getting $600 of stuff? The "find the coffee cup with your name on it" is the only new bonus I've seen that isn't completely stupid or unfair.

A few years ago there was a SNL sketch called "Supermarket Spree" where Melissa McCarthy takes "everything is up for grabs" literally and starts putting things like a deli slicer and a cash register in her cart. I tried to think of other ideas for Supermarket Sweep sketches and came up with someone losing by spending their entire sweep time going to the deli counter and waiting for the guy to slice lunch meats for them. I guess that's another reason why the whole florist and barista bonuses piss me off so much, it's literally a shitty joke I came up with and this stupid production comes along and implements it like it's a legitimate good idea.

And the final sweep they fucking tell you the item type in the clue to make it too easy...

Exactly. For $100,000, "find these juice pouches..." like anything but Capri Sun comes in pouches, and even if you don't know that you can just go to the juice aisle and bullshit your way into finding it.

If I had to say anything positive about this version, I like that the produce department is finally actually used and isn't just there as a nice backdrop for the host to stand in front of. Although even that gets ruined somewhat by the fact that they seem to ask for a specific fruit or vegetable at some point in almost every damn bonus round.
