Yeah they were such an obvious pair, it was a waste. Instead they floated him around with Rey, Kelly Marie Tran, and then that throwaway woman they introduced in the last movie. Even though Rey was obviously not feeling the chemistry with him.

yes. i will always hate rose's character and not even for her looks like some of the weird beard gamefakkers here, but this moment is my most hated in the series. finn is doing something unquestionably noble and heroic, one final stand for the resistance against the first order.

then rose decides to t-bone him at max speed which should have just instantly killed them both. instead they get to cuddle and she gives some bullshit speech about love. if luke hadn't done what he did, that single action would have been the end of the resistance. doors blown open, everyone killed. it was the dumbest thing in franchise history and people don't hate on it nearly enough, it's worse than jar jar by far

China is always a factor with popcorn flicks but besides them, Disney produces their films to pander to the safe, lowest common demoninator which combined with Star Wars, the odds of Finn being a jedi or the lead hero of the trilogy were slim to none.

I don't understand. Why did they make such a big deal of him in the trailer for the first movie, with the whole white stormtrooper taking off his helmet to reveal a black guy, if they weren't gonna do anything with his character and didn't want to upset racist China?

Why bother at all? If they were worried about China, why make all this hype for the black guy in the first movie and all this build up with the light saber wielding and getting with the force lady, only to completely shit on him and do him even worse than the "token black guy best friend" type?

Colorism isn't exactly limited to China/Asia and it's nothing new, so the real mystery is what Disney's intention even was in the first place.

Unless... they didn't have one, and it was just "throw every idea at the wall and see what sticks" type situation? Which could explain stuff like the hilariously ridiculous light saber crossguard hilt for an already hilarious weapon.
