This month I've rediscovered my love for reading, mainly thanks to Jorge Luis Borges. Although I'm feeling sad that I have to rely on translations into English and wondering if learning to read Spanish is something I could do.

I read his short story collection Fictions in a night or two, then I finished Samuel R Delany's Nova that I started last month and read Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island over a couple of nights.

Now I'm reading A Glastonbury Romance by John Cowper Powys but it's very long and I need some lighter reads to take breaks with, so I'm planning to get through The Castle of Otranto tonight as it's quite short.

How about you folk?

I should really read some non-fiction. Not sure what I'd appreciate but it's something I'm lacking. I've got a book about ancient beliefs in Celtic countries I could start.

I rarely read whole books at this point. Maybe once a year I will read a novel.

Now I just read and reread sections of philosophy books.

What? That's the translated title. I don't know why some people insist on translations for some titles and original language for others, happens with films too.

I'm currently reading through The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter.

it's the second part of an African influenced dark fantasy series, which is heavy on action.

I really enjoyed the first one (The Rage of Dragons), and this one is really good, too, IMO.

Any good?

I've been meaning to check out more Bradbury. I've only read Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles but I really enjoyed both.

i hated that book. it was required reading in AP English in 12th grade, but literally no one in the class did the reading because it was so boring, and the teacher was a super cool dude and just said okay fine, we're not gonna read this book, let's just go onto the next lesson. it was awesome.

I feel like i probably would have hated it in high school when i wanted to read about nothing but wizards and ghosts or something, but it's exactly the thing I adore now. A super in depth character study where the character feels incredibly real and relatable even though it was written literally more than a hundred years ago now.

I had the exact same experience in 12th grade though lol. Our teacher tried to make us read Pride and Prejudice and eventually gave up and made us watch a movie adaption
