Simply put my stance was always "Mask is better than no Mask" yet every mf'er tried whatever mental gymnastics to refute that simple fact!

lmfao remember how back in april/may everyone here fell for the 'You dont need masks bro, the WHO/CDC said so' meme. Even to the point where I was getting clowned on for being pro-masks and pointing out how the reasons they pushed to not wear masks didnt even make sense. Even pointing out the inconsistencies of WHOs videos on who should/shouldnt wear masks.

Imagine falling for such gaslighting when it was blatantly obvious that having a mask was better than none at all regardless of what reason you are wearing it for. Whether it was with the intention to protect you or if it was the intention to prevent spread. If you wore it to protect YOU, it means you still have one on to prevent spread to others so there was no situation where No mask was the superior choice.

Then these same mf'er trying to defend the stance by saying it was to save them for healthcare workers. Like we are supposed to be ok with being blatantly lied to? If masks really needed for healthcare workers then didnt that show that they did indeed do something and that it was better to have masks. Or the other one about how it makes people touch their faces more and give themselves coronavirus. They literally came up with whatever bs scenario and mental gymnastics to discourage mask use

I honestly felt like I was living in some bizarro world during that time and couldnt understand how people kept defending all the anti-mask shit from the CDC/WHO when it made 0 sense.

Literally was

1. Highly contagious disease
2. Dont wear masks

What was even worse that on this site you couldnt even speak up against whatever narrative the CDC/WHO was pushing and lost Karma and was warned multiple times for being pro-mask and pointing out the WHO/CDCs bs regarding it. I feel like I deserve an apology from people here and Karma back that I lost over being pro-mask

Because realistically a mask isn't going to do shit for you since the air you breath in and out is going to take the path of least resistance to get there. Which means in most cases, it'll go right around that mask you are wearing since most people wear them rather loosely.

Mask just puts you at risk of other illness. Mask will accumulate airborne particulate and once you take it off, you liberate it all on front of your exposed mouth and nostrils. Its a cesspool for bacterial growth, fungi, as well as prions.

Masks are very effective at keeping you from spreading the virus. If you think you might be sick, then you should use them.

However if you plan on wearing them to prevent yourself from getting the virus, a regular mask will do almost NOTHING to protect you.

-The common masks are to avoid spreading disease, they won't filter and protect you from it.
-The N95 masks are filters, and it's the damn healthcare workers who need them the most, since they have no choice but to go into contact with contagious people.
-They wanted people not to hoard shit so that healthcare workers could have access to the masks they needed. It's not that the general populace couldn't use them, or that they wouldn't work, but there needed to be an availability for those who needed it most. Gotta match the curve, so to speak.

Yeah. This has been the CDC's stance for months.

I hate wearing a mask and I bitch about it constantly but I've never not worn one and I get pretty irritated when I see other people not doing so.

My dad takes the stance that you should appreciate doing the right thing but that's a load of shit, it still sucks and I am within my rights to say so. You can do the right thing and still think it's crap.

Here are two peer-reviewed studies that show via experimental design with objective data that certain types of cloth masks are worse than none at all. I understand why the CDC would recommend wearing something, anything at this point, but what's missing from the context of my quote above is that I wasn't saying don't wear masks at all. I was saying don't wear cloth masks.

We measured a droplet transmission fraction ranging from below 0.1% (fitted N95 mask) to 110% (neck gaiter, see discussion below) relative to the control trials.

We noticed that speaking through some masks (particularly the neck gaiter) seemed to disperse the largest droplets into a multitude of smaller droplets (see fig. S5), which explains the apparent increase in droplet count relative to no mask in that case. Considering that smaller particles are airborne longer than large droplets (larger droplets sink faster), the use of such a mask might be counterproductive.

As authors of the only published randomised controlled clinical trial of cloth masks, we have been getting daily emails about this from health workers concerned about using cloth masks. The study found that cloth mask wearers had higher rates of infection than even the standard practice control group of health workers, and the filtration provided by cloth masks was poor compared to surgical masks.
