I'm an attorney in Florida. As Trump's legal filings keep getting thrown out a common theme is presenting itself; there is no evidence. This presents an issue for the lawyers and law firms that are representing him.

Most people think lawyers are scummy ambulance chasing people that choose money over reality whenever they can but for the most part this isn't true. The profession has rules to regulate itself and prevent lawyers from filing bull shit claims. It's only a matter of time until these professional rules become a part of what's going on and I'm frankly surprised they haven't yet.

If a client asks you to do something you know has no merit a lawyer is expected not to do it. Lawyers can be required to pay legal fees and be sanctioned by the state bars for abusing the system. Here, it seems that Trump is doing exactly this and his lawyers are going along with it.

The argument about hearsay in the Michigan case that just got thrown out is a good example. Hearsay is a basic evidence rule that you learn about in law school and have to know to pass the bar. The lawyers knew or should have known that the evidence in the petition is not admissible and without anything else would get thrown out.

A case like that, based on none or obviously inadmissible evidence, filed for a bad purpose, should get the lawyers sanctioned. I don't see how they can keep doing this with little to now evidence without suffering some kind of professional blow back.

they are pursuing these cases in courtrooms where a republican president appointed the judge, so they're getting the kid gloves of "answer the question or be disbarred" instead of simply being disbarred

where the question is "was a GOP observer in the ballot counting room" in a case over GOP observers not being in the ballot counting room

seems to me it'd be a perfectly legal decision for a judge to hold them in contempt, jail them and disbar them. all at once.

Having a resume of being Trump's lawyer, even when filing dumb ass lawsuits, will get you tons of Trump supporters as client in the future.

There will only be Trump supporters in the future if Trump is still president. Let us all think this through more carefully.

This for sure. In my experience it doesn't matter what the judge thinks personally either. Yes, court stacking matters and loading courts with judges that have certain political beliefs happens and impacts justice, but they all seem equally annoyed when dealing with B.S. arguments no matter who it is coming from.

Trump is only going to get away with filing these things for so long. I think the only reason you aren't reading about sanctions is because you generally have to give the other party notice that the motion will be filed and the time hasn't ran yet. The suits are getting tossed before they can event hit the 30 days.

Today a firm in PA moved to withdraw from representing him. A firm in Arizona did it last week and there will probably be one in Ohio that does it too soon.

It's just all publicity for Trump.
