This is a lot of games. Ghosts of Tsushima heavily sanitizes samurai and has a lot of archaic elements; bushido, haiku, etc. all came much later (when samurai no longer had wars to fight and needed to justify their continued existence). Just enjoy it for what it is.

I understand them not wanting the player character to be a butcher but they should show some other vikings doing it. otherwise it just totally rips apart history. maybe have some evil vikings that the player has to stop.
