I also don't know where the save data went, but I noticed that when I went to delete my AC Valhalla save data because I have to uninstall it and play it without the update to get past the bug. I only had two games: AC and Fall Guys with save data.

My PS3 wiped all save data once. I had PS+ previously but I hadn't bothered to upload saves during it. Aside from some games I was mid-playthrough in, I figured I would have started new playthroughs of everything else anyway.

You may need to make sure autosave was on and active though. I went in and manually saved all my data in anticipation of PS5.

And trophies are great for this. I lost one really annoying one at the same time, but trophies are like a permanent record of game completion that you don't have to worry about once they're done.

Cloud storage isn't infinite. If you had it set to auto upload it probabably filled up last September. I had to delete several gigs a few weeks ago because it hadn't uploaded cloud saved in about 5 months.
