I'm back in Canada with the wife and kid. Got back in mid-April after not being able to return to China due to them closing the boarders.

My new job is definitely a lot more difficult than teaching was which sucks but I've lost almost 20lbs so far from doing it.

The really shit part is the IIRC is extremely fucking slow due to covid. Normally it takes 1 month to receive your application number and 2-4 months to receive your work permit after applying for permanent residence. It's will be 5 months tomorrow since applying for my wife's visa and we haven't heard anything besides them confirming that they received it. We called last week to try and get some information and they just said "due to COVID-19 we aren't operating at normal capacity and can't give you an estimation".

We need both of us working to be able to get our own place (staying with my parents) but because of this shit she's been forced to sit around and wait to be able to work. I've lost over $40,000 this year due to lost wages (my former boss fucked me for a bunch of money as well), flights, selling off our belongings in China at ridiculously low prices due to mainland Chinese normally not buying second-hand, etc.

This whole experience has caused me to have a great amount of hatred for the CCP. Their ineptitude is why we're all going through this shit. I will never fly to or through China again. I'll never visit Hong Kong again which was an incredible place to be until a few months ago.
