People think the system will magically remove him in January but law enforcement and bureaucrats follow orders so if the head of the FBI, Pentagon etc. are all Trumpers nobody will do anything.

It seems pretty obvious that he is doing exactly that. Not sure why people are shrugging it off and pretending he'll suddenly listen to reason after a lifetime of not doing so.

Putin loves having opposition because it makes his reign seem legitimate. He has loyalists in charge of opposition parties and they release propaganda against Putin and are allowed to have enough power so people think they are a real threat.

This is what the Republicans have been doing for decades with gerrymandering, court packing and voter suppression.

We are much closer to this reality than anyone wants to admit.

Yeah, it always happens somewhere else. And then it happens at home. Time and time again leaders will use general apathy or disbelief that such a bad thing could happen to give them the freedom to enact that very thing.
