@ the dude who was watching Xena

I just got both Hercules and Xena so wanted to hear others' thoughts on the shows. Gonna skim some episodes here and there for nostalgia, so any stand out episodes to watch?

Joxer the Tidy

Episodes focused around Ares (like "Old Ares Had a Farm") or Hercules/Iolaus crossovers (my fave was "You Are There", my rare endorsement of comedy episodes) are usually pretty good. Oh, and don't skip any of the Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) episodes either.

Just going through a list, some eps I enjoyed:

• S1E07 - The Titans
• S1E22 - Callisto
• S2E04 - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
• S2E11 - Here She Comes...Miss Amphipolis (mostly rec'd for Robert Trebor, haha)
• S2E21 - Lost Mariner
• S3E02 - Been There, Done That
• S3E12 - The Bitter Suite (this has the best Xena song in it -- the Hate Song -- IMO)
• S4E17 - The Play's the Thing (another rare comedy ep I kinda enjoyed)
• S5E10 - Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire (another rare comedy ep...you know the drill)
• S6E04 - Who's Gurkhan?
• S6E10 - Old Ares Had a Farm
• S6E13 - You Are There (maybe the best comedy episode??? Most are awful, remember!)

Too lazy to find the Autolycus episodes, but Bruce is always great, so don't skip 'em.

I'm gonna skim through Hercules first, then move on to Xena.

But when does Xena first appear in Hercules? If I remember right, she actually starts out as a villain/antagonist.

I think it's an episode called "Warrior Princess" or something. Never watched through Herc's Adventures after XWP, so I'm relying on something I saw on a wiki last month or so.

Show's a lot more tame than I remember and definitely very... 90s. Goofyish.

It's certainly a time capsule show, but it does have a few restraints removed as the show goes on. There's one point where Xena says, without censoring, "How do you feel about shoveling shit?" We've certainly evolved as a society.

One of the best Xena episodes IMO is One Against an Army. Season 3 I think. Perfect representation of Xena and Gabs relationship and the choices they must make when faced with certain death

Also has an amazing scene: Gabrielles delirium. Makes me all misty eyed
