I think once the boomers are gone, society is going to undergo a massive cultural shift. boomers have been holding us back for decades.

i think the closest we've had has been fdr or lbj and just look at what they accomplished, legislatively...programs like social security and civil rights that still exist today as common sense no-brainers

... She turned Western Detroit. Detroit has never been entirely conservative, it's always pretty close. The other half of Detroit is also hardly progressive, it's full of people Trump spent 4 years marginalizing.

And Flint and the Leelanau aren't even vaguely progressive.

Most of our wins came in areas with a lot of minority voters or, notably, colleges, although that still wasn't enough to move Mt. Pleasant to the left-- the home of CMU.

If Biden can make a trend of centrism and unity, then there wont have to be a far-anything party. Presidents need to represent the whole nation instead of half of it.

In 30-40 years, the US (and likely most of the world) will be a very different place & today's political issues won't matter nearly as much because other things will be a lot more important-- likely the continued environmental destruction will be a much bigger factor, as an example.
