He was the lead for KOTOR and the Mass Effect trilogy. He left and came back a couple of years ago. Now a new Mass Effect game is coming.

Can Casey Hudson save Mass Effect? Can he save Bioware?

Ea ruined Bioware but i still enjoyed Andromeda yeah it had bugs but alot of games do we are all beta testers now

I don't think a prequel trilogy would work. Not much happens outside of the First Contact War with the Turians and humans entering the Citadel. The rest of the stuff is covered in the books.

It would make a cool spin-off though. Like perfect for a tactics game or something.

He's not a writer but he approved of the ending. Personally I think a major reason it happened was because they couldn't delay the game anymore and the ending they wrote was the easiest way to get it out in time.

3 went deeper than 2 did and I think struck the best balance. Well Andromeda gameplay was overall better but it was just everything else that was mediocre. Don't see the issue with the latter.

Yes.

Honestly, there's been an enormous amount of behind the scenes talent that have left the company over the last decade or so (the EA years), so assuming any 1 person could save the series is kinda ridiculous.

In it's own franchise, Andromeda gameplay could be fine, I guess, but for Mass Effect it felt weird and weightless. It also didn't help that higher difficulties seemed to "forget" that the maps are open world and you need a non-shitty radial indicator indicating enemies behind you, rather than the corridor shooting of the original trilogy.

I also hate the openness of the abiilty system. While being able to learn everything is "neat" it also means there's little balance in abilities. When you're limited to a few, you find opportunities to use your whole arsenal. In Andromeda I can't think of any reason, unless you're trying to limit yourself to, say, a vanguard playstyle, that you'd ever not have overload and I think it's called flamethrower? And there's probably a similarly overpowered biotic power, like Lancer or something.

Of all the Mass Effect games, ME2 had the most dumbed down RPG mechanics. I think ME2 gets far more praise than it deserves.

yep they stripped out the rpg elements to appeal to a larger audience and it worked

Tbh I didn't particularly find the combat in any Bioware game all that fun until ME2 so I don't really miss their RPG mechanics. They always tried to mix turn based combat and action combat and never really found a great combination with that IMO. Dragon Age Origins was probably the closest but even then it had a lot of issues.

I always liked the party dynamics and story decisions in Bioware games more than the RPG combat.
