I have been thinking about it and I think I figured out that maybe the beans Brits eat in the morning are similar to what Americans get in those cans of "pork and beans". I happened to have a can of that. and I was looking at it and I think it might be the same bean or very similar. just a different sauce. if you took out the pork sauce and put in tomato sauce then it might be English breakfast beans

My breakfast is a latte. I never really ate breakfast, even as a kid.
For decades everyone always scolded me for not eating breakfast, even the rhetoric was breakfast is the most important meal. But, as it turns out, oops, not really... All the food advice from the last decades all got it wrong. Fat it turns out is really good. And fat free, artificial sugar foods (such as fat free yogurt)? The absolute worst thing you can put in your body. You can eat all the eggs you want and it won't really affect your cholesterol. Etc. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Think we need to point out that baked beans in Britain seem to be completely different to the "baked beans" from the US.This appears to be the case, and it finally makes sense why Americans get weird about things like beans on toast when it is in fact a perfectly cromulent meal. You just have awful beans and are imagining them in place of what we are actually talking about --- Regards, WtW ... Copied to Clipboard!

America is a huge country. There are regional differences.
Where I live breakfast usually consists of something bought on the go at a fast food establishment)some kind of burrito or breakfast sandwich) and eaten while you drive to work, between texting, makeup/shaving, cell calls and screaming at the cars beside, in front and behind you. Maybe a sit down breakfast occurs 4 times a month. You can't eat beans while driving unless they're in a smoothie... Probably start seeing those on the menu at Mac Donald's any day now.
