Even if I get it and survive, I'd rather not risk getting lung damage or have blood or neurological problems because of it. Not to mention the healthcare costs associated with dealing with that in the US.
You should consider getting vaccinated then.

I would get it if it was incentivized. Like maybe $1,000?

Would there be any adverse affects from getting vaccinated a couple thousand times?

I won't be getting it immediately. Probably give it a couple months to see if any bad shit crops up wrt the vaccine. If it's confirmed safe and effective at the time i guess i'd get it

Love how people are saying they'll wait a couple of months of people taking the vaccine to make sure it's safe when half the people in the trials are already fucking vaccinated for months without side effects >_>

"Everyone" is a significantly larger sample size.

For those who are saying they'll wait, how long would you wait? What's the line where you'd feel comfortable taking it?

There's like 30000 people involved in this vaccine trial, half of them got the actual vaccine. Is 15000 people not a good enough sample size these days?

And isn't the main reason why other vaccines take years to develop is the fact that they have to wait to see people getting infected with whatever virus their vaccine is trying to protect them from. With how extremely spreadable Covid19 is, you don't have to wait nearly as long to get actual results.

I genuinely understand the skepticism about taking the vaccine: it's being rolled out incredibly quickly and some poorly-tested vaccines could definitely have unforseen effects. However, having looked into the creation of it more, it's completely different to other vaccines and in a manner which is far safer.

The most similar vaccines work off a live or inactive virus, whereas this particular vaccine works off a tiny part of the mRNA of Covid, which basically causes the body to recreate a part of Covid (which is completely and utterly incapable of causing any damage or morphing into Covid - it's literally just protein, not a virus in any way unlike the similar vaccines) and teaches the immune system how to respond to and kill the actual Covid-19 virus.

This (so far, it's obvious really early in testing) is a ridiculous breakthrough and looks so much better than most projections for a vaccine given its success rate. Like, this shit gets us herd immunity easily if as many people get it as people who voted in the US elections. The only possible situation in which this vaccine is likely to be risky is to people with compromised immune systems in some form. These are exactly the people we're trying to protect by getting the vaccine anyway, since they can't take it. It's probably the most important individual scientific discovery to your everyday life in years and it you're considering not getting it, please do as much research as you can. Hell, I'd be happy to point you to some good resources or explain some of the science behind it. If this vaccine and similar ones gain traction and get past their storage issues, it will save millions of lives and allow billions to live far more normally.
