I mostly game on PC now. However, I could see myself reverting to a Nintendo or Playstation console someday. Maybe even an Xbox

I mean, if in 2030 the parts are comparable and they implement all the features I'm used to... who knows?

I have to force myself to play a game on console. My computer is just so much more convenient. and smoother and prettier. only touch consoles for exclusives now

The best gaming is not limiting yourself to a single platform. The worse gaming is getting insecure and picking a side and getting angry if people don't make the same decision.

My siblings (live in different cities) have a Nintendo Switch and I'm a little jealous of them

The PC is only what I'm doing now. We'll see what the future holds

I can use a controller on PC and switch between TV and monitor. No reason for a console.

I switched over when I felt the 360/ps3 gen was taking to long and graphics looked stagnant. PC gives you options you dont have on console. Console is one size fits all and you know everything will work without issue. If cross play keeps becoming more integrated then multiplayer shouldn't see one platform without a player base.

Both work well if you want what they offer.

Games run faster and smoother (1440p 144hz). And fucking Mods. Like seriously, games are just so much better on PC vs console.

probably most people do this - besides games all they do on their PC is browse the internet, MS office, netflix, etc

so your question seems more like a case of you just not being able to wrap your head around this particular hobby. there's a guy here who drops 2 grand a week on stupid shit like shoes and t-shirts. i cant wrap my head around it but he's getting enough enjoyment out of it it seems

a good gaming computer is typically reserved for hobbyists

tbh a lot of the grief comes from the forced downtime... everything installs and loads so.damn.slowly.

on top of that nothing's more fun than turning it on after a while only to be met with a firmware update or game patch etc. waiting for you.

maybe if the new SSDs can guarantee i'll actually be in game within a minute or two of turning on my console, they'll get a lot more playtime.

Yes. PC is objectively superior performance-wise. Assuming the port from a console wasn't fucked up somehow, but that isn't an issue with the platform so much as an issue with developers.

If you are only getting one platform, PC is the best option. I would only suggest a console if they happen to have exclusives you really want or they have handheld portability. Like if you're big into Mario or Zelda, get a Switch on the side.

i prefer PC in every way and only game on console for exclusives.

Also given what we're seeing with the series S, you could buy a refurbished office PC and throw in a 4GB card for around the same price and get something comparable.
