I see people using disinformation a lot this week and I didn't think it was a word, so I googled it. Here's the difference.

Misinformation is false information that is spread, regardless of intent to mislead.

Disinformation is false information, as about a countrys military strength or plans, disseminated by a government or intelligence agency in a hostile act of tactical political subversion. It is also used more generally to mean deliberately misleading or biased information; manipulated narrative or facts; propaganda.

So there you have it.

well good for you that you learned a new word today. but you seem to be implying, by specifically pointing out that there is a difference, that a lot of people are saying disinformation when they really mean misinformation. if that's the case, i would like to point out that you are incorrect. the false information which is being spread as of late is definitely intended to deliberately mislead people.
Oh I wasn't implying that. I only posted because I think other people might also want to learn the difference between the words.
