Worried about this. I've been hearing/seeing different pieces of information, which I think is implying that the PA Supreme Court (or the PA Secretary of State? idk) took illegal action by allowing votes that were postmarked by Nov 3 to be received up until Nov 6 and still be counted.

Is this true? That makes me nervous because if it actually was illegal to do that, I feel like the Supreme Court could invalidate those votes since Trump wants the SC to review this.

I've also seen that the Supreme Court has declined to take this case prior, but said they may take it after election if it comes up again.

This tells the conspiracy part of me that Trump/Supreme Court allowed this to happen, knowing that the USPS was shit, and knowing people would trust that even if their ballot didn't make it by Nov 3, it would make it by Nov 6. So they didn't plan to vote earlier or turn in their ballot due to that.

Now PA is segregating those votes in case they are invalidated.

And SC basically waiting until after election to rule on this was to actually be able to cancel those votes (when if they had ruled prior to election day, those people still could have actually voted on Nov 3).

Am I understanding this properly?

Are the envelopes attached to the ballot? Or were they thrown out? I cant remember. But nevada is still taking in absentee ballots as we speak. And will do so until the 9th. I guess it depends on the state.

In PA there are two envelopes, but I don't know how they are segregating them or if they are keeping the envelope with the ballot

It is not illegal. PA law allows for a few days after Election Day as long as they are postmarked by Nov 3rd 8pm.

i think postmarked on the 2nd was the cutoff, but it might have been the 3rd. definitely didn't need to be delivered yet.

But my question is, was it illegal for the PA Supreme Court (or whoever made that ruling/law) to make that ruling? Was it within their power?

I saw one interview with Pat Toomey on CNN where he suggested it was illegal I think, and previously I had heard people say that what the Secretary of State was doing was illegally creating laws, but at the time I wasn't sure what they were referring to

No. It was not illegal. Its not a new ruling. Thats how PA has been in at least both elections I voted in.

Many states allow ballots postmarked on election day to received past election day. The deadline can be 3-14 days depending on the state.
