Some Trump supporters commenting on his tweets make it sound like votes have never been counted past election day. The scary thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them actually don't know that votes are still counted after the day.

He's not even saying the counting needs to stop. He specifically said they need to stop counting in the areas where he was winning, but needs to keep counting in the areas he was losing, like AZ. I don't know how Trump fans reconcile the discrepancy there but Trumpism isn't founded on rational thinking.

Seriously though, as someone who had formally considered myself a pretty solidly conservative person, the complete and total evil of the right being exposed to the world in plain sight, especially this year, has been pretty hard on me. I voted D down ticket, and will be voting in each election going forward, not just presidential years. There has been... its almost trauma, trying to reconcile my beliefs about the party and the stances I've held in the past. Knowing how I rationalized and rationalized, time and again. I feel so stupid, so dirty. I want to believe that some people on the right are also struggling with these feelings and the recognition that they've backed a party that is so extremely on the wrong side of history and an enemy of humanity. That if they allow just a little more reflection on who they're supporting and why, they might change. Trump was implying popular vote should matter in his speech by saying his large leads in certain electorates should count. He'll support whatever he thinks will get him to win.
