i just lost my job in the most chicken shit way

2 weeks before covid lockdown i took over this kitchen
the kitchen has been sitting for 7 months now
the owners decided to remodel the place during lockdown
the remodel is about 80% done
i go into the kitchen last week to cook up some taste test dishes for the owners and staff
during this test cook phase, the previous kitchen manager walks in asking for the owner
hes looking to get his old job back....the one he had hired me to take over for him
not a single negative remark on the food (tho i thought i couldve done better with plating)
today the owner calls me in to talk, says he has an issue with my cleanliness
im thinking "oh yeah some of my plates were messy, i get it..."
he says i left a mess in the kitchen, when i absolutely did not
i even cleaned up messes that i didnt make, and i was very conscious of not leaving a mess

to me, it sounds like hes too chicken shit to tell me the real reason why he wants to take back the previous kitchen manager over me. i think the owner personally doesnt like me and he used a weak ass excuse to let me go

and i understand that he can do whatever he wants with his business and can select his employees
it still doesnt take away that i was let go for a chicken shit reason
