Man, Bravely Default 2 looks outstanding. Even if it isn't your kind of game, you really need to respect how much Square Enix has listened to player feedback BEFORE the full game is released - and with how transparent they are with the adjustments they made.

In all my years of gaming, I can't recall any major company ever going to these lengths to implement player feedback before releasing a game. I hope this game is a huge success so that it encourages Square Enix and other companies to take this approach more often.

I remember Daemon Ex Machina doing a similar thing with implementing a lot of user feedback from the demo, but this is a bigger property for sure.

I'm glad they're listening to feedback and all, but as soon as the narrator said they lived on the continent of "Excillent" they basically lost me (and then seeing characters non-ironically named Elvis and Orpheus basically prevented any chance of me finding my way back).

I just can't get into this level of generic rpg anymore. Octopath turned out to be the exception because I really love the 16-bit aesthetic and the music. I don't have the same feelings for polygons.

Honestly, all the player feedback seemed really dumb. It's like it's supposed to be designed like an old-school RPG, but apparently players can't understand or handle game mechanics like that anymore.

Like the complaint about not being able to see your exact turn order. Have these people ever played a turn-based RPG before? Like, I can understand that style of gameplay might not be for everyone, but it's really sad to see the developers be like "Ok, we'll change this completely just to cater to these specific people who can't cope with not being able to see turn order without a bunch of extra gauges to show them".

I thought it was kinda weird how they listed difficulty settings as an example of one of the things they changed. Like both Bravely Default (updated version) and Bravely Second had difficulty settings so I would have assumed that Bravely Default 2 was going that have that already.

Earlier this year, Square Enix did something similar for Trials of Mana to get feedback. Trials of Mana also got an auto run from this. Maybe they should just put that in from the start next time. >_>
